Château Chesnel

The suspense remains intact because the castle is only revealed once it has arrived in front of the surrounding gate. It is the closest castle to Cognac: Jacques Chesnel, then governor of the town of Cognac, acquired the land of "La Roche" in the 1530s.

The castle was built in 1610 by Jacques Roch Chesnel.

It retains some of the architectural codes of fortified castles with its dry moat, towers and crenellations, but these are decorative elements.
You will be seduced by the harmony that emanates from this group of buildings, castle and outbuildings, which have remained intact since their construction at the beginning of the 17th century.
Built on two levels, the main body is flanked by two wings set at right angles to each other. At the corners of the quadrilateral rise massive square towers. The elevations are crowned by a parapet on strong brackets, masking the roofs and endowed with a decorative crenellation, which gives all its charm to this imposing residence.
